First Initial Scouting Location -- 99 Ranch
99 RANCH MARKET - Milpitas Square, 338 Barber Ln, Milpitas, CA 95035

Artist Statement: I chose this place because of it's diversity cultural side. It is my mostly-visiting market.

What makes this supermarket special to me is the sense of cultural belonging it gives me. As a foreigner living in a foreign land, my culture and sense of identity have been impacted, which includes my food culture. And the existence of this 99 Ranch Marcket has allowed me to survive this identity crisis. The goods inside are very similar and representative of the goods in my hometown. The reason I chose this supermarket is because this is the mall I go to the most. It gradually integrated into my life and became an indispensable element of my life in the United States.

Regarding the pattern, I chose the logo of 99 Ranch, the carp sculpture in front of the mall, and the marinated eggs that can be replaced with coupons obtained during shopping.

Second Initial Scouting Location -- San Jose Country Club
San Jose Country Club -

This only reason why this place is important to me is it never relates to me. It is a golf-club acrossing the road in front of my house, in Alum Rock Ave. It has a beautiful view, awesome enviornment, and even wild animals. Yet, I have never entered that place, not even for once. It is too fancy to me and the fence is more than a physical wall between me and the club. I combined the important elements in that club, like dear, golf field, and the fence.
